Security officer found shot to death behind school

Two men were shot and killed within hours of each other taking the country’s murder count to 45 today.
According to police, shortly after 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, gunshots were heard in the Yellow Elder area. Police responded to find a security officer at A. F. Adderley Junior High School was shot and killed.
Police say it appears that two men approached the officer, who was sitting in his vehicle parked near the security booth at the school when an altercation occurred.
The man was subsequently shot.
Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the man dead.
Less than seven hours ago, the number of homicides jumped by one, when 36-year-old Anthony Brice was gunned down on Step Street, Fox Hill last night.
Police say Brice was walking in front of his family home when a dark coloured vehicle pulled up beside him.
The occupants of the vehicle exchanged words with Brice and gunshots were heard a few moments later. The culprits fled the scene leaving Brice’s lifeless body behind.
Police Press liaison Shanta Knowles issued an assurance to Bahamians last night that there is, “no need for alarm,” and that the Royal Bahamas Police Force is doing all it can to ensure safety to all Bahamians.
