Houston TX June 25 2018

A security guard stopped a fleeing gunman early Sunday after a shooting in Midtown, according  to authorities.

The shooter walked up to two men around 3 a.m., opening fire on the pair as they strolled down Webster near Smith.

A 36-year-old man was shot in the thigh and rushed to the hospital in stable condition. The shooter tried to run away, but a nearby guard spotted the man and followed him to his car.

As he tried to get in his car to flee, the security guard stopped him and took him into custody.

Police did not have other details to release at this time.
