Jacksonville police charge man in Internet Cafe robbery where security shot-killed 2 others
Jacksonville FL June 27 2018 A 23-year-old Southside man is behind bars three months after two of the three people who tried to rob Spin City Sweepstakes at 10095 Beach Blvd. were shot and killed by a security guard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Skyler Patrick Aftoora of South Brighton Bay Trail was arrested Monday on two murder charges as well as armed robbery, according to Duval County jail records.
Police said three men with guns went into the internet cafe to rob it about 11:30 p.m., as a fourth stayed outside in a vehicle. Video surveillance from the strip mall shows what appears to be a dark compact Jeep Compass or Patriot stopping in the parking lot, then three men wearing knit caps or hoodies get out, one carrying what looks like a rifle. That video can be seen at bit.ly/2HsH1IG. Another image released by police showed a gunman, face hidden by a hoodie, leveling a semi-automatic handgun with extended clip inside Spin City.
The security guard fired at the men, hitting 28-year-old Raheem Jaron Prather and 23-year-old Raymond Dixon, who died, police said. A third suspect was grazed by a bullet from the guard’s gun, fleeing back to the Jeep to leave with its driver.
Aftoora is charged with murder because the two other men were killed during the commission of a felony.
