Iowa man robs fireworks tent security guard at knifepoint
SIOUX CITY, Iowa June 30 2018 – A man was arrested in Sioux City Friday after stealing fireworks at knifepoint.
Court documents say that Kegan Morris, 29, of Walthill, Nebraska, went to a tented firework stand at the parking lot of on the 1700 block of Pierce Street in Sioux City just after midnight on Friday.
Morris allegedly asked a person hired as a security guard there if they would give him free fireworks.
After the security guard said they would not, Morris reportedly pulled out a knife, walked around the stand and asked the guard to give him free fireworks and tell the owners he had been robbed.
The guard again declined, and Morris told them that he was robbing them then.
With the knife point still open in his hand, he is said to have taken a box of bottle rockets and few larger rockets estimated to be worth $10 before fleeing on foot.
Officers found Morris a few blocks away with the stolen fireworks.
Morris was arrested and charged with robbery. He is being housed in the Woodbury County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
