Houston security van driver robbed at gunpoint and attacked
Houston TX July 8 2018 Four men robbed and assaulted the driver of a security company van after ramming it in the Gulfgate area Friday, Houston police said.
Police received a call around 10:15 a.m. about the incident in the parking lot of Pancho’s Meat Market at Griggs near Telephone.
“The way the call came in initially, it said an armored car robbery, but I would call it … some type of security company van,” said John Cannon, Houston Police Department spokesperson.
The driver, a female guard, sustained minor injuries which were treated at the scene, Cannon said.
The suspects rammed their vehicle, a white utility truck, with an extended cab and ladders on the top, into the security van, Cannon said. Three of the four suspects, two of whom were armed, got out of the truck to confront the female employee in the van.
One of the suspects struggled with the guard, and the robbers took an undisclosed amount of money and a weapon from her before fleeing the scene in their vehicle.
It is unclear if the security guard was alone at the time.
