Garland TX police kill knife wielding man near Bass Pro shop
Garland TX July 11 2018Â A Garland officer killed a man holding a pair of large knives near the city’s Bass Pro Shops on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities received multiple calls about a man swinging the knives — which police said were possibly machetes — at buildings and vehicles in the 1500 block of the Interstate 30 service road, near the Bass Pro Drive exit, shortly before 2 p.m. The man had struck some passing vehicles, police said.
Officers told the partially clothed man, who was walking toward them, to drop the knives, police said.
When he refused, one of the officers — a 27-year veteran of the force — shot him.
No officers were injured, police said.
Authorities have not released the name of the man or the officer who shot him.
The investigation is ongoing.
