Nash County NC detention officer charged with providing cell phones to inmates
NASHVILLE, N.C. July 18 2018 The Nash County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Tuesday that a detention officer has been arrested for providing cell phones to inmates.
Quintin Cardel Higgs is charged with eight counts of give/sell phone/electronic device to inmate. The Nash County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division began investigating the 26-year-old in April, about six months after his October 2017.
That culminated in his arrest Tuesday.
The release said the investigation yielded information and evidence that Higgs was smuggling with the intent to provide phones to at least eight inmates. Higgs was immediately terminated, and was charged with eight felonies.
Higgs was given a $175,000 secured bond, the release said. He was sent to a detention center in a neighboring county. His first appearance at the Nashville District Court is set for Thursday.
