Florida man sentenced to 5 years in prison for armored truck robbery
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —July 29 2018
The man charged with spraying a security officer with a chemical during a robbery attempt is heading to prison.
Elrod Curry pleaded no contest to robbery and battery charges Thursday morning and was sentenced to five years in prison.
The armored car security officer was exchanging money at a WaWa ATM in Orange County last year when deputies said Curry sprayed him in the face with a chemical and tried to rob him.
But the security officer fought back and shot Curry in the shoulder, ending the threat.
Police took him into custody and charged Curry with the robbery.
