Added security guards at Coos Bay Library shows remarkable improvements
COOS BAY, Ore. April 7 2019 – The Coos Bay Public Library has reduced disruptions after adding security guards.
They’ve contracted with the CNB Security company for the past year.
Behavioral disruptions that would sometimes lead to 911 calls, no longer pull staff away from their jobs.
“Disruptions have gone down due to consistent enforcement of the behavior policy and staff can get back to doing library work,” said Sami Pierson, the Library Director.
While the security guard can’t make arrests, they can trespass someone who isn’t complying with the rules.
Pierson says it’s an effort to make sure the library is a safe and welcoming place.
