Alabama Bank Security Officer Kidnapped During Bank Robbery

A bank robbery Friday included the kidnapping of the bank security officer according to police.
Friday’s brazen bank robbery in the early morning hours was perpetrated by 63-year-old Lionel Clinard Harris who held the bank’s security guard hostage and threatened to kill him if the bank teller didn’t give him all the money. The crime happened at the PNC on Springhill Avenue.
A security surveillance video shows Harris entering and exiting the bank and holding the security officer at bay until bank tellers gave him some money.
According to an official MPD arrest report, Harris was arrested at 1900 hours, 7pm, on Tuesday, April 15 at the intersection of Summerville Street & Clement Street.
He’s charged with robbery and kidnapping. According to jail records, he’s still locked up in Metro on a $100,000 bond.
The security officer was not injured.
