Albuquerque gunbattle at CVS store leaves two security officers shot
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Dec 27 2017
A shoot-out at a New Mexico CVS store has left two security officers injured and two brothers in jail.
According to police officers, 26-year-old Micahel Chopito got into a fight with a man at the CVS on Central and Louisiana Tuesday night.
A security officer working in the area stepped in to try to stop the fight.
A confrontation with the security officer developed and Chopito then called his brother, 21-year-old Vankevin Chopito, who showed up with a shotgun.
Detectives say he began firing towards the security officer who was standing next to an off-duty security officer.
The second security officer pulled his weapon and returned fire, but not before getting hit.
The two security officers were rushed to University of New Mexico Hospital with serious but non-life- threatening injuries.
The suspects later showed up at the same hospital, also with non-life-threatening injuries.
That’s when police took them both into custody and they’re facing multiple charges and are locked up on a bond.
