Allentown man charged with threatening to shoot bar security guard
Allentown PA Sept 5 2019 An intoxicated man was kicked out of the Deja Vu nightclub early Monday and then threatened to return with a gun to shoot the security guard who gave him the boot, according to court records.
After allegedly making the threat, John Arroyo-Morale, 35, of Allentown, ran to his car, court records say.
Police said the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. at the club at 343 Hamilton St., the site of June 20 mass shooting that injured 10 people.
Arroyo-Morale was arrested at his home a short time later and charged with terroristic threats, drunken driving and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned by District Judge Ron Manescu, who sent him to Lehigh County Jail under $10,000 bail.
According to a criminal complaint:
The guard said Arroyo-Morale was causing problems inside the club and was too intoxicated, so he was kicked out. After finding out he was being kicked out, Arroyo-Morale began giving the security team problems, and once they got him outside, he started yelling and pushing the security officers.
Arroyo-Morale said he was going to his vehicle and returning with a gun to shoot the security guard who kicked him out. Arroyo-Morale started running westbound on Hamilton Street toward parked vehicles, and the security guard went after him.
The guard said he saw Arroyo-Morale get to an SUV across the street, open the door and take a box out. The guard ducked behind a car, thinking the box contained a gun.
Arroyo-Morale instead got into the SUV and went east on Hamilton Street, then north on American Parkway. The guard took down the license plate number and gave it to Allentown police.
Allentown officers ran the plate and learned that it belonged to someone who lived in an apartment in the 500 block of North Ninth Street. Police went to the address and spotted the SUV with a man, later identified as Arroyo-Morale, inside.
Police detained Arroyo-Morale and said he had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. Police also located a gun box, but no gun was inside.
The guard later confirmed that Arroyo-Morale was the person who made the threats.
