Anchorage police charge woman with robbery after pulling knife on store security
Anchorage AK July 29 2018
An Anchorage woman who ate food in Burlingtons on Monday and left without paying for it is now charged with robbery, the Anchorage Police Department reported on Tuesday.
According to the police report, 21-year-old Darci A Millspaugh was in the Burlington store at the Northway Mall and ate food in the store that she did not pay for. Millspaugh then exited the store.
As she was leaving the store, Millspaugh was confronted by a security guard for shoplifting. But, instead of initially giving up, Millspaugh pulled out a pocket knife and “raised it up as if she was going to stab the guard which put him in fear of harm,” APD reported on Nixle.
Millspaugh eventually dropped the knife after being ordered to do so by the security guard.
Police responded to the store at 6:49 pm and placed Millspaugh under arrest. Because she threatened the security guard with a knife, Millspaugh had her shoplifting offense elevated to Robbery I. She was further charged with Assault III and Theft IV.
She was transported to the Anchorage jail where she was remanded on the charges.
