Anti-mask protest inside Mapleview Mall in Burlington leads to woman’s arrest after security guard assaulted
Halton Canada Jan 26 2022 Halton police have arrested a 58-year-old Burlington woman for allegedly assaulting a mall security guard during an anti-mask protest in Burlington.
The accused was arrested on Jan. 19 and charged with assault and mischief. She was released pending a Feb. 9 court date and the allegations have not been tested.
The protest in question took place on Dec. 15, 2021, at around 6:30 p.m. A group of 20 or so people entered into the food court of Mapleview Mall without masks or providing proof of vaccination, police said.
Police say the group “pushed past security” to get inside the mall.
Police attended the scene but no arrests were made at the time. However, an investigation determined that a guard was assaulted, but not injured.
