Appomattox Co. supervisors approve resolution for families of private police officers
APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. August 23 2023 Another county has signed on to a resolution spurred by the death of a Wintergreen police officer.
On Monday night, the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution in support of extending line-of-duty pay to families of private police officers.
This started in Nelson County after Wintergreen officer Chris Wagner was shot and killed in June, responding to an assault call.
Due to Wintergreen being a private police department, his family wasn’t eligible for the benefits.
Supervisors passed the resolution unanimously.
Campbell and Augusta counties have also passed resolutions.
