Arkansas security guard charged with manslaughter
FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. April 5 2018
A Texas man who died under suspicious circumstances at an Arkanas festival last month was a victim of homicide the coroner’s office has concluded.
The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating the death of the man which had a lot of twists and turns but now an arrest has been made in the case.
A deputy with the Sheriff’s Office was working the Flux Festival off duty at Cadron Creek Outfitters on Cargile Lane in Greenbrier.on March 17, when the deputy was contacted by one of the Flux security personnel at approximately 11 p.m. and was told there was a problem with one of the festival attendees. Security told the deputy the man was asleep on the road.
The deputy went with security to where the man was located and noticed he was unresponsive. After closer examination, the deputy noticed his face was discolored and he was not breathing. The deputy immediately called for first responders, and festival staff started CPR until first responders could arrive.
Austin Michael Dodson, 24, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Coroner’s Office sent Dodson’s body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Now, the Medical Examiners report determined Mr. Dodson’s death was caused by strangulation.
Through the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office has probable cause to believe that the Flux Security team’s actions resulted in the death of Mr. Dodson.
The security leader who originally reported the non-responsive victim, has become the prime suspect and has been arrested.
Anthony Paul Flick, 34, was arrested by U.S. Marshalls in Anderson, Missouri for Manslaughter on March 29.
Flick will be extradited to Faulkner County.
The sheriff’s office did not say if there would be other arrests in this death.
The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone that has information regarding this incident to please call the investigator at (501) 450-4917.
