Arkansas security officer shot at nightclub
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. Aug 7 2017 — A suspect is in custody in Russellville after a man was shot at North 40 Club in the 100 block of W. Birch St. early Sunday.
Russellville police were called to the scene at 2:44 a.m. and found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
After a preliminary investigation, police arrested Patrick Abbott, 23, of Russellville and a felony hold was placed on him for first-degree battery and possession of a firearm by certain persons.
The victim was taken to Saint Mary’s Regional Medical center for treatment and was listed in stable condition.
The club issued the following statement on their Facebook page in response to the shooting: “Club 40 prioritizes the safety and security of our employees and customers. Early Sunday morning, one of our security guards was injured while protecting others on our property. He acted professionally and within the strict protocol our security staff is trained to follow for removing disruptive patrons. Our thoughts and prayers are with our courageous employee and his family as he recovers.”
