An armed security guard keeps watch on the crowd.
The ShopRite location at 1310 Fairview Boulevard has been seeing large crowds since the end of last week. In response to the coronavirus outbreak, shoppers have been rushing to the store to pick up essential items like toilet paper, hand sanitizer and meat.
Since Friday morning, the Delran ShopRite has hired two security guards from an outside company, according to a store manager. One is the armed guard standing between the aisles and check-out counters. Another is not armed, but he is monitoring the store to keep watch over the crowds.
Delran ShopRite officials did not confirm that they hired the guards in response to the coronavirus situation. But the guards were not there as recently as Friday morning.
