Armed man at Eastland Mall arrested for assault and gun charges
Vanderburgh County December 17 2018
Mall security and an off-duty county deputy sheriff working security at the Eastland Mall stopped a man who shoppers said had pointed a gun at a mall customer.
The deputy found and approached Brandon Brucken of Evansville and found that he was in possession of a concealed firearm. The gun was found in his waist.
Authorities say that the incident occurred at around 7:30 Friday night.
Deputies say Brucken approached his ex-wife and her boyfriend near the Foot Locker store.
Brucken is accused of hitting the man in the head and spit in his face.
He then allegedly showed a gun and threatened to kill them.
Deputies say hundreds of shoppers, including children, were near-by when the incident happened.
Brucken has been released from jail on bond and is scheduled to be in court on Monday.
