Armed robbery suspect shot in gunfire exchange with security guard
CHARLOTTE, NC May 10 2019Â Police say an armed robbery suspect was shot after a gunfire exchange with a security guard near an arcade in Charlotte late Thursday night.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident happened near the AIA Arcade on East Independence Boulevard around 10:20 p.m.
CMPD says two male suspects robbed the arcade. Officials say at least one of the suspects was armed with a firearm.
As the suspects left the arcade and were in the parking lot, police say shots were fired by both an armed security guard and by at least one of the suspects.
One of the robbery suspects was shot. Police say the security guard was not injured.
The suspect who was shot was later dropped off at a hospital by an unknown individual(s) where he is being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The second suspect has not been located. CMPD is investigating the armed robbery.
