Knox County TN April 28 2019
This might cost him the security guard job.
A 21-year-old man is facing felony charges after allegedly shooting his friend in the neck at their North Knoxville home Wednesday afternoon with a .38-caliber revolver he claimed he didn’t know was loaded, according to arrest warrants.
Justin Matthew Hudgins remained jailed Friday in lieu of $11,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon in connection with the apparent accidental shooting at 5507 Melstone Road.
Hudgins told officers, “he had shot the gun about a week ago in an attempt to get (an) armed security guard license, and is familiar with firearms,” the warrants state. “The defendant stated he didn’t know the gun was loaded but did mean to point the gun and pull the trigger.”
The victim, identified as 24-year-old Andy Thompson, was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery.
Thompson’s condition was not immediately available Friday.
