Armed security officer disarmed, beaten and robbed
Pasadena CA Dec 27 2020 A group of attackers beat, robbed, and disarmed a security officer in a residential neighborhood in Pasadena on Monday afternoon, fleeing with the victim’s cash, jewelry and handgun, police said.
The robbery took place about 2:35 p.m. in the 100 block of Pepper Street, just west of Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.
The victim works as an armed security guard, although it was not clear whether he was on duty at the time, Dawkins said.
The victim arrived in the neighborhood to meet someone, according to the lieutenant. But as he parked his car and exited, he was suddenly attacked by a group of people, knocking him to the ground.
“The suspects forcibly took some jewelry, some money and the handgun,” Dawkins said.
The victim, described as a Los Angeles man in his 20s, suffered injuries described by police as minor.
A description of the robbers was not available.
