Armed shoplifter pulls gun on Kohl’s store security agent

A suspected shoplifter pulled a gun on a plainclothes security guard at a Simi Valley Kohl’s store on Friday night, authorities said.
The incident was reported around 10:45 p.m. at the Kohl’s department store at 2950 Tapo Canyon Road, the Simi Valley Police Department reported. The location is in a shopping center on the north side of Alamo Street.
Loss-prevention officers at the store had seen a man and a woman allegedly stealing merchandise, police said. The officers are part of a plainclothes security team that focuses on theft prevention
After the pair left the store, one of the security officers confronted them near a vehicle in the parking lot, police said. The man pulled out a gun, according to police. The security officer, who feared for his life, backed away and the pair drove off toward Highway 118, authorities said.
Police officers were unable to find the suspects or their vehicle. The department’s detective bureau will investigate.
