Armed teen threatened to shoot fellow student at DC middle school
WASHINGTON DC December 5 2018 A fourteen-year-old boy was arrested Monday after police say he walked into Kramer Middle School with a gun and threatened another student with it.
The Metropolitan Police Department reports that around 1 p.m., the suspect approached a fellow student in the stairwell of the school and pointed a .22 caliber handgun at them, saying, “If you tell anyone, I will shoot you,” then walked away.
The school was briefly on lockdown after the incident, but the lockdown was lifted less than an hour later once the suspect was taken into custody for assault with a deadly weapon, and the handgun was recovered.
Roman Smith, Kramer Middle School’s principal, released a statement to the parents of students at the school explaining the incident.
“The safety of our students is paramount at all times,” Smith wrote. “If you have any questions related to this incident, please call the school office at (202)939-3150 or contact me via email at roman.smith@dc.gov.”
