Armored truck security guard, money disappears in Louisville KY
Louisville KY December 7 2018
It’s not exactly a who done it but it is a mystery that Louisville police want to solve.
A GaraWorld armored truck was making a delivery at the Jefferson Mall, when a security guard and some cash disappeared and Mark Espinoza hasn’t been seen since.
One of the security guards went inside a business at the mall and when the co-worker came back around 3:15 p.m., Espinosa and some amount of money were gone.
Espinosa, 29, stands 5’10” and weighs 225 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen, Espinosa was wearing a blue work uniform.
The driver of the armored car called Louisville Metro police Wednesday afternoon to report that Espinosa was nowhere to be found, and some of the cash from the armored car was missing.
The vehicle was parked next to Jefferson Mall near Round 1, the new recreation and entertainment center.
Police would only say Thursday that the amount of missing money was undetermined.
Store employees around the mall did not report anything suspicious and police have combed through nearby surveillance footage but haven’t said if it revealed any new leads.
A security expert that it’s almost impossible to penetrate the heavy armored vehicle and even high-powered rifles would be able to pierce through the vehicle.
Anthony Tedesco, former employee of the armored car industry said that he has known of two other times when security employees have stolen money from their employer, but not in this manner.
This is just bizarre he said.
All employees go through a background check for felonies, and a credit check too. They are screened closely and there are integrity checks done on them as well Tedesco said.
Anyone who has seen Espinosa is asked to call the LMPD Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). All calls are confidential.
