Armour College, Rick McCann recipients of two awards
Charlotte NC May 8th 2021
This week, Armour College took home several awards from two different organizations!
The award for Richmond’s Best Technical and Vocational School was presented to Armour College and its founder, Rick McCann.
The award recognized the school for its twelve years of providing vocational, technical, and public safety training students across Virginia and for its selfless work with the Goodwill Industries, Job Corps and several continuing community projects that offer no-cost training to teens and disenfranchised youth.
Mr. McCann who founded the school in 2009, said that the school continues to expand across numerous states and online and has a commitment to train people in careers that can provide them with an advantage for a better life.
Additionally, this week, Mr. McCann was also recognized by Security Magazine for providing leadership and training during the pandemic.
Mr. McCann initiated several programs in the early stages of the virus to recognize, track and defend against the Coronavirus early including having several staff members trained by John Hopkins University in Contact Tracing, as well as training from the CDC and OSHA.
The immediate recognition of the magnitude of the virus and its potential to spread quickly and widely led to the closing of school campuses, procuring Personal Protection Equipment, additional training for officers and school staff and limiting contact between students, staff, and the general public.
Mr. McCann is also the Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Public Safety Director for the school system as well as an EMT-Firefighter.
