Atlanta Security Officer Shot In The Head Dies
ATLANTA GA May 25 2019 – Police are looking for the person who shot three people at a popular Atlanta restaurant and lounge and left a security guard dead.
The shooting happened Saturday at the Atlantis Restaurant and Lounge off Piedmont Circle Northeast as the lounge was starting to close.
Police said that the shooting started during an argument over the price of admission.
A security employee died from a gunshot wound to the head. He has been identified as John David Price II, 42.
Two others were shot in their legs but are expected to be OK.
“There’s a breezeway in between the inside and outside areas and it happened inside of that breezeway. So, technically, indoors but not inside of the club yet,” Atlanta police Lt. Andrea Webster told Pozen.
Witness Reginald St. Junior told Pozen he was inside Atlantis when he heard gunfire.
“Everybody ducked in fetal position,” he said. “I was one of the few people that exited through the front. I saw the security guard’s body laying there.”
When he saw the body on the ground, St. Junior said he thought the employee wouldn’t make it.
Investigators said they aren’t sure how many times the gun was fired. They collected multiple shell casings from the scene.
St. Junior told Pozen the lounge is a popular place on the weekends and typically is safe.
“I have never experienced this before, so it is pretty shocking,” he said.
Pozen recieved a message from someone who works at the lounge but did not want to be identified. The source said the employee who died was a very good man and his death has rattled his colleagues.
