Bail bondsman shoots suspect after suspect allegedly tries to run him down
FRESNO, California October 12 2018 – A bail bondsman shot a suspect after Fresno Police say that suspect tried to hit him with his vehicle.
Police responded to the area of Oleander and Crystal ave in southwest Fresno, near the Fresno Chandler Executive Airport, around 6:40 p.m.
Police tell us a Central Valley bail bonds company approached a house, attempting to serve a felony warrant to a wanted suspect.
Police say the wanted suspect was inside a vehicle and noticed the bail bondsmen approach the home, he attempted to flee the area by driving away.
An officer tells us a bondsman feared for his life and shot several times at the car, hitting the suspect in the lower extremities. He told police he feared the vehicle was being used as a weapon.
Police say a total of five bondsmen were on scene at the time of the shooting.
The man shot was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the company was serving him a felony warrant for evading arrest, resisting arrest and child endangerment.
