Bald Knob Schools Add Enhanced Security, Including Armed Staff Members
BALD KNOB, Ark.June 10 2018 – Big changes are coming to the Bald Knob School District for next year. It’ll be adding several enhanced security measures in the event of an active shooter situation or other emergencies.
The school main exterior entrances will have cameras with audio to allow for communication with and regulation of visitors before they’re in the building.
The elementary and middle schools will have upgraded security features in walls, windows, and doors, like what is already in place at the high school.
Visitors will be required to wear printed photo ID badges. Also, the Bald Knob Police Department has been working with the district over the last several months to trains and arm unidentified district personnel to serve as extra security.
Those employees will be carrying concealed in the event of an emergency.
Leigha Roberts who lives in White County supports the idea. “I think we do need to do something about it and I think those are some good measures for them. Searcy should follow suit as well.”
The armed staff must have 60 hours of training before they will be able to carry concealed on campus.
