Bouncer at Idaho Falls bar gets jail time for attacking patron
IDAHO FALLS ID May 6 2021— A bouncer at an Idaho Falls bar will spend two weeks in jail after shoving a patron and causing him to hit his head.
Blake Clifford Cox, 45, received the jail sentence and a year of probation from Magistrate Judge Kent Gauchay on April 22, after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges of battery and disturbing the peace.
Prosecutors initially charged Cox with felony aggravated battery, but as part of a plea agreement, obtained by EastIdahoNews.com, Cox agreed to plead guilty to the misdemeanor charges.
The Idaho Falls Police Department arrested Cox after a December incident where the patron was knocked out after hitting his head when Cox shoved him outside the doors of Hurricane’s bar on Holmes Avenue, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The intoxicated and belligerent victim was being removed from the bar.
With the 14-days in jail, court records show Gauchay gave Cox six months to complete the sentencing term. Court records also indicate Cox was ordered to pay $750 in fines plus restitution to the victim.
