Bouncer boots man with knife
Monroe MI Sept 6 2017 The bouncer of a downtown Monroe bar kicked a man in the chest after the suspect pulled a knife on him and threatened to cut him Friday night.
The force of the blow shoved the suspect backward and made him drop the knife. He later was arrested and lodged in the county jail.
Monroe Police reported the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. in front of the Uptown Bar, 8 W. Front St. The suspect, 54, of Monroe was kicked out of the bar earlier for trying to pick fights. Reports said the man returned.
Police said one man approached the suspect and told him he had to go. That, according to witnesses, is when the suspect pulled out a knife. The bouncer then approached and the suspect told him “I will cut you,” according to reports. But the bouncer kicked him in the chest and diffused the problem.
Police said the suspect had a blood alcohol level of .18. In addition to the knife, officers also found a double-edged throwing knife in the man’s boot. He was lodged in the county jail on charges of felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.
