Brawl at Providence School Involving 15 People Leads to 4 Students’ Arrests, Staff Assaulted
Providence RI December 27 2022 A fight at a Providence public charter school involving approximately 15 individuals — including adults — led to the arrest of four juveniles.
Providence police were called on Thursday afternoon to Charette Charter School on Westminster Street.
According to police, chairs and tables had been thrown in an altercation that involved both students and outside individuals.
Police said they learned that earlier in the day, a skirmish between four juvenile females at Charette led to two of the students being dismissed from the school for the day.
According to police, the two students who were removed then went to Kennedy Plaza, where they met up with friends and family members.
Then, a group of approximately 15 individuals, including the dismissed students, returned to the school, say police.
An adult in the group reportedly pushed a staff member in order to get into the building where the fight between the four female students that began earlier in the day resumed, along with the additional friends and family members taking part.
Police say the four female students were arrested.
The adult — not known to police on Friday — accused of assaulting the school staff member is also facing charges if and when identified.
