Brazen thieves steal six cars, ram security vehicle in SeaTac
Seattle WA November 24 2018
SEATAC AIRPORT- Police are trying to track down seven brazen thieves who stole six rental cars out of the Hertz car lot in SeaTac.
They made their escape by ramming a security guard’s car at the entrance.
The suspects stole the cars then used one of them, a Ford Expedition, to ram a security vehicle that was blocking their way. A security guard was inside the car at the time but fortunately was not seriously hurt.
Investigators said the security guard was, “shaken up.”
“There was some planning that took place for this to happen,” said Sgt. Koby Hamill with King County Sheriff Department. “This is the most coordinated ones I’ve been on yet.”
Police said they managed to escape the lot with six cars. Investigators said just a few weeks ago a thief tried to steal a car out of the same lot, that’s why the rental company had the security blocking the entrance in the first place.
6 cars were stolen from the @Hertz lot at 18600 DesMoines Memorial Dr in Seatac. Deputies searching for a total of 7 suspects. 2 of the vehicles were just recovered in Tukwila. Suspects not located. Pics attached of Expedition used to ram security guards vehicle to escape.
“We arrested one person on the property here involved in a vehicle theft,” said Sgt. Hamill. “Hertz has taken steps to secure the property, as you can see, they have the vehicles blocking the entry and the exit with a security guard in them at all times while the gates are open.”
Two cars were later found, one at the light rail station at Tukwila Int’l Boulevard.
It will be towed to SeaTac City Hall for fingerprinting.
Detectives are still looking for the thieves.
