Broadway at the Beach security guards head-butted, kneed in stomach
Myrtle Beach SC October 8 2021
Three Broadway at the Beach security guards were assaulted while trying to escort a disorderly drunk man, Myrtle Beach police said.
Myrtle Beach police officers responded to 1322 Celebrity Circle, which is the address of Broadway at the Beach, Sunday about 9 p.m.
Broadway at the Beach security guards told police that a man was being escorted off the property for “acting disorderly” inside multiple bars. While being escorted, he head-butted a security guard on the mouth three times.
He kneed another security guard in the groin and stomach, they told police.
When police arrived, the man was still “acting very disorderly,” screaming and swearing, according to an incident report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department. The man was “uneasy on his feet” even while being held up by security guards and reeked of alcohol, according to police records.
After the man was handcuffed and told he would be arrested, he head-butted a third security guard in the nose and caused him to fall down. The three security guards, two of whom are not named in the police report, are aged 18, 19 and 21.
The unnamed man was charged with three counts of assault, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, and trespassing.
It’s not the first time Broadway at the Beach security have been battered in recent months. A large fight at Broadway at the Beach over Fourth of July weekend left four security guards injured.
Myrtle Beach police arrived at Señor Frog’s at Broadway at the Beach about 2 a.m. July 5 for a call regarding a fight, an incident report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department states.
One of the security guards told Myrtle Beach police that he had chest pain stemming from anxiety during the fight and drove himself to the hospital. A second security guard was punched in the face, leaving a visible injury to her right eye, the police report states. The third security guard was already on the ground when a man ran up to him and kicked him in the head, leaving him with a visible injury. The fourth security guard was knocked down to the ground before someone stole his tactical belt and beat him with it.
