Brooklyn Security Officer Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle

A Brooklyn security officer standing inside a booth was struck and killed by an SUV driver who lost control of the wheel, police said Friday.
Police identified the victim as Juan Mendez, 72, of Bellerose, Queens.
Mendez was manning a security booth in front of a building on Paidge Ave. near Newtown Creek in Greenpoint when the driver of a 2017 Ford Explorer turning left from Provost St. lost control and struck the booth around 10 p.m. Thursday, cops said
Mendez, who suffered serious leg injuries, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he died, police said.
At this time, there is no word on any charges being filed
