Building collapse kills SC security officer

A security officer working during severe weather in South Carolina was killed early Monday morning
The contract security officer was working at the BorgWarner plant in Seneca when a tornado hit the area, and a building collapsed on him, according to Michelle Collins, director of marketing and public relations for the plant.
77-year-old security officer Jack F. Harvill of Walhalla employed by American Security and was in a building that sustained a structural collapse during the storm around 3:30 a.m. He, unfortunately, passed away as a result.
Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis confirmed there was a storm-related death in Oconee County. Addis said he would release more details later in the day.
Collins said four other employees were at the plant at the time. She said they have some minor injuries but are okay.
More than 100 mph winds were measured in some areas overnight, according to WYFF News 4 Chief Meteorologist Chris Justus.
NOTE: This is the fifth security officer killed by a weather event and the third killed during a tornado in 2020.
