Car thief arrested after stealing park ranger’s vehicle at Larrabee State Park
BELLINGHAM, Washington January 10, 2023 A prolific auto thief is in custody after he allegedly stole a park ranger’s vehicle and then tried to run him over with it.
The ranger says in his report that he was in the process of closing Larrabee State Park in a heavy snowstorm on December 21st when he encountered a man and woman parked in a campsite.
He inspected the couple and their vehicle and determined it was likely stolen.
The woman tried to drive away but crashed into a ditch, then got out and ran.
The man got into the ranger’s patrol vehicle as he tried to detain the woman and drove at the ranger, who had to dive out of the way.
The woman got in the patrol vehicle and the couple fled.
The vehicle was later located in Fairhaven and Bellingham Police arrested one of the suspects, 41-year-old Jacob Jackson, on December 28th.
