Car thieves shoot Florida security officer
Opa-Locka FL April 30 2022 A shooting at an Opa-locka car dealership left one security guard injured and police searching for the people who stole two vehicles early Thursday.
The shooting took place just after 4:30 a.m. at the CarYou Miami dealership located in the 2600 block of Northwest 141st Street.
The dealership’s owner said at least three suspects smashed into the business and stole a 2010 Infinity and a 2017 Hyundai.
The owner released surveillance footage of the armed suspects inside the business.
At one point, a 63-year-old security guard was shot by the suspects as they fled the scene in the cars by driving through an iron gate, the owner said.
The victim was reportedly transported to an area hospital, but his identity and condition have not been released. Those who live in the area said they are not surprised by what took place.
“They steal a lot,” said Shantay Williams. “That’s a shame. They need to find the people who did it.”
Police have not released any details on their investigation.
