Carson City Sheriff’s Office, casino security nab men with drugs, stolen credit cards

Two Mono County, Calif., residents were arrested Monday for suspected felony and misdemeanor offenses. Of the two, one was booked for suspicion four counts of being in possession of credit cards without the owner’s consent, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office report.
Jason Norman Emery, 43, of Bridgeport, Calif., was arrested for four felony counts, suspicion of obtaining, and possessing a credit or debit card without owner consent. He was also booked for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Also arrested was Jonalyn Hernandez, 28, of Bridgeport. She was booked for felony and misdemeanor warrants issued out of East Fork Township Justice Court. She was also booked for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a casino on South Carson Street after security alerted a man on the property had drugs on him. Security wanted the man trespassed from the property.
Officers met with security who stated that at around 4 a.m. he received radio traffic from a supervisor about a man sleeping inside the casino. Security was able to wake the man, who then dropped some of his belongings on the floor. Among the belongings was a clear baggie of suspected methamphetamine. He left the drugs but picked up the other belongings. The security officer collected the baggie, took it to the security office, which was later shown to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Deputies made contact with the man, who was in a restroom, and knocked on the first bathroom stall. Officers were able to see through a crack in the stall that the man wasn’t using the bathroom, but was instead throwing items into the toilet and flushing the items. The officer was unable to identify the items the man threw in the toilet. The officer instructed the man to exit the stall.
Officers placed the man in handcuffs and read him his Miranda warning, in which he agreed to speak. He stated he was unaware of a clear baggie with the suspected methamphetamine, even when he was advised he was on video surveillance dropping the baggie. He was arrested. During a search of his personal items, several Visa cards were found belonging to other people. When questioned, the man was unable to provide information as to why he had the cards, the arrest report states.
As officers placed the man into a patrol unit, the man’s girlfriend asked what Emery was being arrested for. The officer informed her he was being arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Carson City dispatch informed officers the woman, Jonalyn Hernandez, had two active warrants with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, through East Fork Township Court. Officers were informed both warrants were issued on Dec. 9, 2020. With the warrants confirmed, the woman was also arrested.
During a search of the woman’s purse officers located a blue and white straw with suspected heroin residue and a white clear baggie with a brown substance. The woman stated it was heroin. Bail for Emery: $22,500 bondable. Bail for Hernandez: $9,477.
