Cash courier robbed then shot outside Florida restaurant
Miramar Florida January 5 2019
Police said that a money courier was hospitalized after being robbed and shot several times outside a Miramar restaurant, police said.
It happened about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday as Taurean Burney was picking up the day’s receipts from The Licking, at 12328 Miramar Parkway, near Flamingo Road, investigators said.
“The victim gave the suspect the money and the suspect still shot him,” said police spokeswoman Tania Rues.
“This was not random,” she said. “He was targeted.”
Burney, 37, was flown to Memorial Regional Hospital, police said. He was expected to survive.
“There was one gunman,” Rues said, but it doesn’t appear he acted alone.
“Multiple suspects are involved who were in the vehicle that fled,” Rues said.
Detectives are looking for the gunman, another man and a woman who drove off together in a maroon, 4-door Nissan, possibly an Altima.
The parking lot in front of the restaurant was blocked off with yellow crime scene tape as police collected evidence through the night. A gray pickup truck was seen being towed from the scene.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about this armed robbery to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-8477 or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
