Casino security guard spearheaded robbery
LAKE CHARLES, LA December 31 2018 The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that it has arrested five individuals in connection to an armed robbery at the Lucky Star Casino on Hwy 171 in Moss Bluff.
Deputies responded to a call from the casino at 4:30 a.m. this morning December 29, 2018.
During their investigation, the Sheriff’s Office says that it was revealed two masked men, later identified as 17-year old Tre’von Gray and 17-year old Joshua Stewart, entered the casino armed with a firearm.
They say while two patrons were inside the casino gambling the two men took out a handgun and demanded money from the security guard.
Detectives say Gray and Stewart were handed an undisclosed amount of money by the security guard and fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle was driven by a third suspect, identified as Amie Nelson, who deputies discovered is the fiancée of the Casino’s security guard.
Through investigation, detectives say they learned that the security guard for the casino, Brandon Cornell Guillory, had planned the robbery with Grey, Stewart, Nelson, and another 17-year old suspect, Jashone Dean Beverly.
Nelson and Beverly were observed by detectives on surveillance footage in the casino prior to the robbery preparing for it.
Detectives also say that Guillory intentionally provided deputies with false information in an attempt to hinder the investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was able to recover all of the stolen money and items used in the robbery.
Gray, Stewart, Nelson, and Beverly were all arrested today for armed robbery and robbery with a firearm. Guillory was arrested for being principal to armed robbery and being principal to armed robbery with a firearm.
At the time of the robbery Nelson was on parole having been previously convicted of first degree robbery.
