Casino theft suspects shot by off-duty Shreveport police
Shreveport LA Nov 26 2017 Shreveport Police are on the scene of a shooting involving two off-duty police officers.
The incident that led to the shooting started around 9:20 p.m., Friday, with a disturbance call outside of Sam’s Town Casino and Hotel on Clyde Fant Parkway.
Shreveport Police Public Information Officer Marcus Hines says the officers were alerted by a security guard that a theft had taken place inside the casino.
Hines says the officers attempted to stop the suspects’ vehicle, when the driver appeared to veer towards the officers.
At least one shot was fired and the suspects’ vehicle crashed near Fannin and Market Streets, hitting two other vehicles.
The driver was shot and has been taken to University Health for treatment. The passenger was not injured and is now in police custody.
