Central Michigan University student kills parents inside dorm
Mount Pleasant MI March 2 2018
Central Michigan University student James Eric Davis Jr. fatally shot his parents Friday morning on campus not long after they picked him up from a hospital, where police had sent him earlier because he’d been behaving erratically, campus police Chief Bill Yeagley said Saturday.
Officers sent Davis Jr. to a hospital early Friday after they encountered him twice on campus “not really making a lot of sense” — once Thursday night and once shortly after midnight, said Yeagley, who said they suspected his behavior involved drugs.
The student’s parents traveled from the Chicago area to the Mount Pleasant campus early Friday after police called his mother to tell her about her son, Yeagley said.
He has been arrested after a manhunt.
At least two people have been killed in a shooting in a Central Michigan University dorm, troopers with the Michigan State Police post in Mount Pleasant told the Free Press.
The state police did not release any further details on who the victims were or the relationship to the alleged suspect, who remains at large.
The campus and most of the surrounding area of Mount Pleasant are on lock down.
According to the City of Mt. Pleasant Twitter account, the suspect is a 19-year-old black male, approximately 5-foot-9-inches tall, wearing yellow jeans and a blue hoodie.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
The shooting allegedly happened on the 4th floor of Campbell Hall, a co-ed residence building. Classes are canceled and students have been told to shelter in place and avoid the area.
