Charlotte security guard shoots alleged robbery suspect at Arcade
CHARLOTTE, N.C. June 19 2019
Police were called to an attempted robbery and a shooting by an arcade security guard Sunday night and say it’s the second time that this happened this month.
CMPD said they received a call of a man was shot around 5:15 a.m. Sunday at the AIA Arcade on Independence Boulevard after he came inside the business pointing a stolen gun at three people.
An armed security guard confronted the man and shot him according to police.
The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be OK.
This isn’t the first time that a robbery attempt and a shooting has happened at the arcade.
Last month, sources said a pair robbed the business at gunpoint and when they tried to leave, a security guard started shooting, hitting one of them. The robbers fired back, but no one else was hurt.
In Sunday’s case, police said they aren’t looking for any suspects and no arrests have been made.
