Charlotte security officers and police capture armed suspect wanted for shooting bus driver

A female bus driver was shot Monday while sitting in her bus near the uptown Charlotte Transportation Center and was taken to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.
Shortly after the shooting happened about 12:30 p.m., police and private security officers found TB Moss not far from the scene, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release. Police said he had a gun.
The driver’s name was not released, nor her condition. Police believe she and Moss are in a domestic relationship, according to CMPD’s news release.
Moss, 57, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, four counts of shooting into operated property and felony domestic violence protective order violation, among other offenses.
Moss’ criminal history includes convictions for assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to records.
A bullet hole was visible in the driver’s side window of one city bus at the transit center Monday afternoon. The bus was marked Route 8, which is Tuckaseegee Road to Scott Futrell Drive.
When women are shot on the job, it’s not uncommon for the shooter to be a relative or domestic partner, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In 2015, more than 40% of the women who died in workplace homicides were killed by relatives or domestic partners.
When men were killed at work, the suspect was a relative or domestic partner only 2% of the time, according to the bureau. The largest single factor behind men’s workplace homicides was robbery, the bureau reported.
Anthony Kirkland, who was at the transit center when the shooting occurred, said the suspect ran from the scene.
By 1:45 p.m., some buses had resumed their regular work at the transit center.
