Checkers employee pulls gun on customer over fast-food order, police say
MEMPHIS, Tenn. Feb 10 2023 A Checkers customer got something she didn’t order at the fast-food restaurant in Memphis on Tuesday, February 7, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
MPD said a customer ordered some chili cheese fries at the Checkers on Poplar Avenue around 11:15 p.m.
When the customer got her food, she told Checkers employee 29-year-old Cetera Jones that her fries were old and dry and asked Jones to remake them, but Jones refused, police said.
MPD said that the customer then asked Jones if she could get a refund for the old, dry fries but Jones again refused.
That led to an argument between the two and Jones eventually came out of the restaurant and pointed a small black handgun at her, according to police.
Memphis Police showed up and found the gun on Jones, court records show.
MPD said that Jones waived her Miranda Rights and admitted to pointing the gun at the woman.
There was one live round found in the chamber of the gun and 12 live rounds in the magazine, police said.
Jones was charged with aggravated assault.
