Chicago security guard arrested in train shooting
CHICAGO IL April 12 2020 — A security guard and a teenage girl have been charged in a shooting that occurred on a Red Line train Thursday.
Eric Camp, 38, is facing charges including aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
A 16-year-old girl is also facing charges including aggravated battery.
Police said Camp, a security guard, and the teen were shot and wounded on a Chicago Transit Authority train in Lakwview early Thursday when the Camp’s gun accidentally discharged, striking both of them.
According to police, Camp had approached the girl, who police said was “causing a disturbance” about 4 a.m. on a CTA Red Line train, when they got into a minor physical altercation that caused the gun the Camp was carrying in his pocket to fire.
The resulting gunshot struck Camp in the leg and grazed the teen’s stomach, police said. Both of them were taken to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.

Digby’s Detective & Security Agency, Inc. is aware of the altercation that occurred early
this morning on April 9, 2020 with two of our security officers and a teenager on the CTA Red Line in Lakeview.
Unfortunately, one of our officers and the teenager were both injured during an attempt to de-escalate a situation.
Our prayers and focus are with the teenager and our officer for a speedy recovery at this time.
We are working closely with CPD detectives who are investigating.
Both security officers have been removed from their position until further investigation.
