Clemson student dies after falling from rooftop, police say

Police are investigating the death of a Clemson University student who fell from a rooftop early Sunday.
The student was identified as Thomas H. Few, according to a Clemson news release.
The 20-year-old from Greenville was a junior construction science and management major, according to the university.
Officers were called around 12:45 a.m. about someone falling from a rooftop, Clemson police Chief Jimmy Dixon said in a news release. They arrived to find Few lying on the ground.
He was taken to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Dixon said.
Investigators do not suspect foul play in Few’s death, Dixon said. However, police say it’s possible alcohol might be “a contributing factor” in the deadly fall.
The release did not say where Few was found, but WYFF reported the incident happened at a home on Old Greenville Highway. The residence is not associated with Clemson, according to the TV station.
An autopsy on Few is scheduled for Monday, per WSPA.
Few was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity, and its national organization mourned his death, saying “All are grieving for his family and friends,” the Greenville News reported.
On a Facebook page that appears to belong to Few, users have begun leaving condolences. The page indicates that Few attended A.C. Flora High School in Forest Acres.
“Thomas was a valuable member of the Clemson Family, and we are deeply saddened by his passing,” Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students L. Christopher Miller said in a news release shared by the university. “Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Clemson is making grief counseling available to students, who are asked to call 864-656-2451.
Few is the fourth Clemson student to have died in the past two months.
On June 1, Gianni Matias Mongelluzzo, a sophomore genetics and biochemistry major, died when he crashed a Corvette into a pole and trees in his native New York, The State reported.
Just days before he was set to graduate from the Upstate South Carolina university with a degree in environmental and natural resources, 22-year-old Billy Gallien was killed in a May 1 collision, The State reported.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the York County native died when his Ford pickup truck “crashed into the back of a Mack dump truck that was stopped on a highway,” according to The State.
Victoria Mattison, a rising junior at Clemson, died on May 22, shortly after being with diagnosed with Bacterial Meningococcal Meningitis Type B, WHNS reported. The 20-year-old Mattison was sports communication major from Mauldin, according to Clemson.
