Cleveland man arrested after shooting at nightclub security
CLEVELAND, Ohio April 3 2018– A Cleveland man is accused of opening fire inside a downtown Cleveland strip club during a fight with a bouncer and staff members.
Arreginald McDowell, 27, is charged with felonious assault in connection with the March 18 incident at the Alibi Inn strip club. He is not in police custody and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
No one was shot during the incident and a bouncer suffered minor injuries after someone punched him in the face, according to police reports.
The incident happened about 12:15 a.m. at the Alibi Inn strip club on Rockwell Avenue and East 22nd Street.
McDowell argued with a security guard and eventually left and got a gun, according to court records. He came back and a fight broke out, police reports say.
The fight spilled into the kitchen, according to police reports. An employee counting money in an office in the back of the building told police he noticed the brawl on surveillance video.
He ran into the bar, grabbed the bouncer and pulled him into the kitchen and away from the fight, according to police reports. The employee and bouncer tried to block the door after several customers tried to follow them, police reports say.
McDowell was able to get into the kitchen. He pulled out a gun and fired at least two gunshots, missing his target, according to police reports.
The customers and McDowell all ran out of the building after the gunfire, according to police reports.
Investigators collected two bullet casings from the kitchen floor, according to police reports.
McDowell is currently facing two charges in unrelated cases. He and another man are charged with felonious assault in connection with a Jan. 21 attack on a third man in the West 6th Street entertainment district. The duo punched the man several times in the face, causing fractures on both sides of the man’s jaw.
He was also arrested on Feb. 14 by vice detectives who watched him sell crack cocaine on West 117th Street and Lorain Avenue, according to court records.
McDowell has pleaded not guilty in both of those cases. He was free after posting $75,000 bond.
