Construction workers aid security guard as he’s being assaulted
GLENDALE, AZ Aug 14 2018
Glendale authorities say construction workers came to the rescue when a man tried to take a gun from a security guard working at their construction site.
According to court documents it was Aug. 7 when Dieter Bradford Klofkorn, 29, showed up at a construction site near Seventh Ave and Bell Rd. He appeared homeless and dehydrated so workers offered him a chair and some water.
An off-duty Surprise reserve officer working as security nearby was talking on the phone next to Klofkorn. Court paperwork states Klofkorn pushed the guard in the back with his left hand while he grabbed the guard’s holstered gun with his right hand. Klofkorn got the gun halfway out of the holster when the guard stopped him and hit Klofkorn with his elbow.
That’s when nearby construction workers held Klofkorn and taped him in a chair to wait for police to arrive, court documents say.
When Glendale police arrived they arrested Klofkorn. He has been charged with aggravated assault.
